Weekly News

What a busy week it has been for Year 2! In maths we have finished our first multiplication topic. We solved some Christmas word problems using our knowledge of multiplication. We also began collecting some data from our friends. We chose a Christmas themed question with three possible answers. We made a tally to show how many children selected each option... "What is your favourite Christmas food?" Turkey                           |||| 4 Christmas Pudding      ||  2 Chocolate Yule Logs    |||| 4 After collecting our data we then transferred our tally marks into a pictogram. We also started to learn how to divide number using sharing. We found out that division is the inverse (opposite) of multiplication. We can practise division at home by counting how many 2/3/5/10 are in the numbers, e.g. 50 divided by 10 … how many times do you need to count in 10s to get to 50? Weekly news

We have had a great week in Year 2 and been very busy. Monday morning got off to an exciting start when we noticed white footprints and a letter from Father Christmas had been left for us in the classroom. We carefully wrote our own replies saying what we would like and why, a gift idea for someone else and a question for Father Christmas. In Maths we have been learning about multiplication and making equal groups. We have been practising our 2,5 and 10x tables. Please continue to practise these over the Christmas holidays. We completed our marvellous masterpieces and were thrilled to share these with you at our gallery on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you all so much for coming, we hope you enjoyed our work. We have been extremely busy with play rehearsals this week and can’t wait to perform it to you next week!
