25.09.20 weekly blog

Dear Parents, We've had a lovely week, despite the rain. On Monday we had an exciting 'Wow Day' to launch our new topic - Muck, Mess and Mixtures. We've also been making Egg box dragons, as they connect with the book we our using in our English lessons. We reminded ouselves what nouns and adjectivees are and we learnt about noun phrases and how to use a comma. In maths, we learnt how to partition numbers in a fun way: Chips and Peas, (tens and ones). Next week, year 2 will be on the grass at platime and so will be needing wellies please. This half term there will be no homework for any of the children at our school but the children will be bringing home reading books weekly. Please try to read their book with them every night, as this helps to improve their reading fluency. The school will not be writing in their reading record books from now on, (due to covid) but we will collect them in periodically. Please keep writing in them regularly though if possibl

18.09.20. Weekly News

Dear Parents, It's been another lovely week with lots of PSHE activities to help us settle back into school. Everybody should have brought home a reading book and a reading record book with them this week. These reading books will be changed weekly, on different days, so they need to bring them in their bags every day please. Please could you read these books with them every night. The more they read the same book, the better their reading fluency will become. In the reading record book, please write a general summary of their reading, noting any difficulties. Thank you so much for working with us to improve their reading skills. On the inside cover of the reading record book, we have stuck some sounds that they need to practise. We will also be sticking a phase 3 and 5 phonics mat in the book at a later date, to help practise their sounds with. This week we have, learnt about the Wonders of Learning, made Dojo monsters, Growth mindset, The Colour Monster

11th September

Dear Parents,            We've had a wonderful week back to school with your lovely children. This week we have been doing lots of fun 'getting to know each other' activities, to help settle the children back into school. Next week, we will be hearing the children read and they will be bringing a reading book home. The whole school will still be continuing with our P.S.H.E. based work next week too. Topics will be starting the following week.          Some of the activities we have enjoyed this week include; making Birthday cards and making balloons with our goals for the year. We have also done lots of work on Dolphins and Whales; drawing them, fact files, collaborative collage, play dough underwater creatures, and so on. We imagine the children will be very tired this weekend, even though its been a fun week.           Best wishes from the Year 2 team

Welcome to Year 2!

Welcome to Year 2 to all of our new Dolphins and Whales. We cannot wait to see you all on Monday morning with a huge smile on your face. Miss Shipp and Mrs Peek will be waiting to greet you at the gate and show you the way to the classroom where Miss Green or Mrs Dresser and Mrs Gant will help you find your pegs. Don't forget to bring your pencil case, water bottle and sunhat or coat depending on the weather. We are all looking forward to a fun week of getting to know each other, playing lots of games and sharing time together.
