will need to find out so that you have lots of information to put on your
poster.
We are going to be
writing questions today for our task. Watch the BBC bitesize clip to remind
yourself about how to write questions.
Remember to use the

Today we are continuing
our work on amazing structures and we will be finding out information about
our chosen structure.
We cannot visit the
library at the moment, but we can use the internet to research our structure.
Use the questions you
wrote yesterday and research safely online to find the answers. Write some
notes and facts about your structure ready to create your poster later in the
week.
You could use Google
Earth to get up close to your structure.
Use voyager -found by
clicking this icon on the left - to investigate The Eiffel Tower for example. There is a
whole section on building the tower with lots of facts and photographs.
Task: Can you find
out the answers to your questions?

Today we will focus on
3D shapes and their properties. It might help you if you can find an example
of each 3D shape in order to carefully count their faces, edges and vertices.
Can you
remember what a vertex is?
Watch today’s
video to find out more about Lesson 3.
Watch today’s video to

What would you expect to see on a poster?
Today you are going to learn about features of a poster. What do you
need to include in your poster?
Can you make a rough plan of your poster? Think about where you are
going to put the title, picture, facts, map etc.

Shapes can be sorted in
many different ways, how many ways can you find to sort them?

Topic
Science (This
lesson will be taught on Wednesday at school)
This week you will be constructing your own bridge for an experiment.
If you have them, you can make your bridges out of biscuits and then
see which biscuit makes the strongest bridge.
I wonder if the shape of the biscuit will impact the strength of the
bridge.
Do you think sandwich biscuits are stronger or weaker than normal
biscuits?
Have a go at making some bridges with biscuits and see what you can
find out.
Task: Can you make
biscuit bridges and test to see which biscuits are strongest?
Art/DT (This
lesson will be taught on Thursday at school)
Task: Can you use your
amazing structure as inspiration for a piece of art?
We would like you to use
either pencil crayons, collage or paint depending what you have at home to
create a picture of your amazing structure. If you have some items in your recycling
bin you might want to make something out of junk modelling and then paint or
decorate it.
Have a look at a picture
of your amazing structure. What key features will you need to include in your
piece of art?
Topic- History (This
lesson will be taught on Tuesday at school)
Last week we found out
about an amazing man- Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We watched a clip and created
a fact file.
This week, we are going
to create either a timeline or a comic strip about his life.
First, re-watch last
weeks clip and then watch the additional clip to give you more information.
The power point is also there to use as a reminder.
Next, have a look at the
example timeline. This is very detailed but you could take a few key moments
to add to your own timeline. Could you make one with drawings and dates?
Or, could you create a
short comic strip about his life? You could choose one part of his life, for
instance his early childhood when he was learning from home with his father,
or maybe you could create a comic strip of the tunnelling through Box Hill?
Task: Can you design
a comic strip or timeline about Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s life?
|
You can have another
look at the amazing structures pictures to help you.
|
