Lighthouses


We really enjoyed learning about lighthouses and why they are important to ships. We then went on to make our own lighthouses using a range of art materials. We were very collaborative and focussed.

Important Notes

We are looking forward to seeing you for our Internet Safety themed learning café on Monday 10 th  February.  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available from 8:45-9:00. You are welcome to drop the children off in the line and proceed to get your refreshments.  Please ensure that any mugs and hot drinks are tidied away to the back of the room ready for the children to come in at 9:05, this is to ensure that we keep the children safe. A reminder that next Thursday 13th February, is our Victorian Day. Weekly News Sports Day on Monday was a hugely exciting, busy and tiring day but very much enjoyed by all. Thank you for supporting us by coming to watch your children and cheering them on. During the mornings this week the children have completed their reading special booklets (SATs). They have all worked really hard. You will be pleased to know that our SATs are now finished. In Maths this week we have been partitioning numbers into different combinations of tens and ones. For example; 62 = 60 + 2, or 50 + 12, or 40 + 22, or 30 + 32 etc. The children used the tens and ones sticks to help them. We also applied this skill by drawing bar models to show the partition. Some children solved incorrect partition challenges for example 62 = 6 + 2 …”This is incorrect because the 6 digit is worth 6 tens so it should be 60 + 2. Word of the Week

In Year 2 we have enjoyed having a 'Word of the Week'. This is a 'big word' that the children may not be familiar with or know the meaning of...yet! The Word of the Week challenge is to be able to say the word, understand its meaning, find synonyms and practise spelling the word. We encourage the children to try to use this word, throughout the week, in their writing and in conversation. The Word of the Week this week is... intermittent occurring at irregular intervals; not continuous or steady. Can you find synonyms for this word? (Remember, synonyms are other words that share the same meaning.) Have fun with words!
