Forest School


We are really enjoying our Forest School sessions. This week we completed lots of different activities including; making clay models, making miniature gardens, bug collecting, hanging up hammocks (and having a snooze!), and making things from sticks and wool.

Dear Parents, We've had a lovely week, despite the rain. On Monday we had an exciting 'Wow Day' to launch our new topic - Muck, Mess and Mixtures. We've also been making Egg box dragons, as they connect with the book we our using in our English lessons. We reminded ouselves what nouns and adjectivees are and we learnt about noun phrases and how to use a comma. In maths, we learnt how to partition numbers in a fun way: Chips and Peas, (tens and ones). Next week, year 2 will be on the grass at platime and so will be needing wellies please. This half term there will be no homework for any of the children at our school but the children will be bringing home reading books weekly. Please try to read their book with them every night, as this helps to improve their reading fluency. The school will not be writing in their reading record books from now on, (due to covid) but we will collect them in periodically. Please keep writing in them regularly though if possibl...

Home Learning week beginning   30 th March Hello Year 2! We are missing you all lots and hope you and your families are keeping safe. We would love you to tell us about the work you are doing at home on here by posting in the comments section. In this post we have set work for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week as your Easter holidays start on Thursday. Weekly news 25.1.19

This week, in year 2, we have been continuing our time work by solving time problems, for example: ‘Tom left the castle at half past 2. It took him an hour and a half to walk home. What time did he get home?” We also played a pairs game to help us remember how many minutes are in an hour, hours in a day, days in a week, etc. At the end of the week we looked at number patterns, worked out the rule, and applied it to continue the sequence. In English we made a map to show the princess’ journey from the palace to the castle. Children worked in pairs to create maps showing the Norwegian features, such a ‘thickly needled pine forest’, ‘frozen lakes’ and ‘bride-white snow’. They then used these maps to help them write a set directions using adjectives, similes and alliteration. In topic we have looked at how animals are adapted to cold climates and had a go at designing our own animal with winter features. We also looked at towers from around the world and located these on a world map....
